The Long Stretch Home

Dad's afraid to sleep - even after getting his powerful painkiller shot, he sleeps for 20 minutes, fighting it the whole time.
He knows he's on the home stretch, but Con's not sure how much longer.

Cheryl didn't stop by yet to remove the port.
The social worker stopped by to see if dad wanted to start hospice - but Gabriel & Con feel they would do the same as them so are okay so far.
Aunt Linda called & checked in - much appreciated...

Con's heading out to the cemetery in Joliet today - Dave the bookkeeper wants everything in order - Mom's wish has always been to be buried in Joliet next to her mom & dad (they have a 3 plot space). It's close to Aunt Jerry's house and all mom's Galli relatives. I know it is well cared for, if we don't make it there to plant flowers, Ray & Aunt Jerry usually do. At both Grandma & Grandpa's and the Great's (Nonna & Nonno's)sites. They are all four buried in that cemetery.

Hey - whoever is reading this - if you could post a comment just to say hi - that'd be great. I've talked to people on the fone about it, but just want to be sure everyone is getting this.

Hi! I'm here! I know you saw my comment below. I actually wish my other friend who has had her dad in hospice since last Wednesday would do the same. She blogs but then locks then down so nobody can see them.. I'm thinking they are personal things she needs to get out but doesn't want anyone to see kinda blogs.. that's okay.. glad you are sharing and I don't have to keep calling you bugging you to repeat the same thing for the 20th time that day. Hang in there. I'll save all my stories for later, and I have some good ones! ;)

I'm here too Joules!!! I can't imagine what it's like to have to type out words like "planting flowers" and knowing their meaning.

My grandfather just went through hospice--it was described as a lot of palliative meds and ice cream. Not a bag gig, considering.

HUG!!!!

Wait, you need another one...

HUG!!!!

Know that you are loved and supported...I'm looking forward to (hopefully on both our parts) catching up next Thursday. Crawling around on tanks is good for the soul.

You are in my thoughts and prayers every day--Other Julie
